Highland Housing Fair
The housing fair near Inverness opened in 2010 and was an estate of individual architect-designed houses that had been shortlisted from an initial competition to promote innovation and sustainability in rural and suburban housing. Malcolm Fraser Architects designed a detached and a semi-detached house which allowed them to continue their research into modern housing. The houses were designed to allow adaptation by the occupants, for example, allowing for change in family size, single occupation or home working. The suggested plan arrangements allow partitions to be added to form rooms, if required, or leave as open plan. Construction was based on a timber frame with locally sourced larch cladding.
